OC Businesses: What Do Your Employees Want?
Posted on: April 11, 2017 by Signature Insurance Group

Being an employer, you want to have the kind of workplace and culture that your employees desire. As over one-third of U.S. employees have switched jobs in the past three years — and more than 90 percent of them left their companies to do so, now is the time to evaluate your business. In this series of posts, we will examine the top 3 things that employees need and want at work and how you can measure up to their expectations. Even more importantly, protect your operation with an Orange County EPLI policy.
Work-Life balance.
There’s been a lot of talk about this concept lately, but what can you do about it? If possible, allow your employees to be flexible with their work hours or work from home when it’s practical. Ensure that if you offer flex hours or remote positions that those employees still feel part of the team and are included in all employee communication.
Stability and security.
Millennials and Generation X crave stability. Especially after seeing their parents and older siblings struggle with a stable job, they desire this the most. Share the history of your small business with job candidates and employees — it shows them your business is a stable place to work. In addition to the past, share your vision for the future. What do you want your business to achieve, how do you plan to get there, and how can each employee help you reach that goal, explains Small Business Trends.
Increase in income.
The top motivator for anyone to work is income. Therefore, offer competitive wages, bonuses, and benefits to attract and retain qualified candidates.
Great reputation.
Employees want to work for a company with a stellar reputation and one that does good within their community. So, how can you promote your reputation? Offer customer testimonials, show how you impact your community positively, and show off the organizations you are partnered with.
